So what are the mental keys to the game of golf? What is the best equipment? Can you incorporate fitness techniques? Are there steps to conquer the mental and physical side of a golfers’ pursuit to perfection on the links? Are there golf secrets that are out there waiting to be discovered?

The mental side of the game of golf, for one, comes with its own twists and kinks. Everything from the first tee jitters to missing three foot putts can be blamed on the mental tangled mess in our mind.

I should know. The mental keys to a solid game of golf went missing half way through my most successful year as a golfer.

Let me share just a bit to begin this “Tee Golfer” pursuit to see you find THE Mental KEYS to succeed with your golf game.

I spent my junior years of golf swinging and winning like there was no tournament, no course I could not conquer. Oh the bliss of first love. I discovered the game at 9 and by the time I was 10, I was snagged by the golf hook. That’s hook, line and sinker!

Growing up with four brothers made me quite adept at learning any sport I wanted to try.

Golf became my passion. I found out that imitation was the best way to learn. I found a few short women on the LPGA tour and studied their swings. My goodness, we are talking from Sandra Palmer to Jo Anne Washam, to a little lady named Nancy Lopez. If you never heard of these golfers, that’s ok. Hang with me here.

While a guy name Freddie Couples was winning the boys side of a state tournament, I was conquering my first 12-14 year old Washington State Title. From 14 to 17, I fought my way through the wonderful butterflies that come from playing competitive junior golf. The butterflies flied in formation. I was on top of the world at every tournament won, from the local area to state to top finishes in the region of the Pacific Northwest.

From there I went on to college with a full ride golf scholarship to the University of New Mexico where I continued to find delight at every step on the lush green fairways of the college touring schedule. I became known as “Tee” from Albuquerque (UNM). From frequent top ten finishes to being named All-American my junior year in college, I had no concept of too many mental struggles. I could not understand how someone could three putt from 15 feet. I could not fathom a constant snap hook or slice. Life was green, first love still was sweet, and my dream of being a pro golfer was on target.

Then something sad happened half way through my senior year. I came home from Christmas that year with one of the lowest scoring averages in the top women golf collegiate teams in the nation. It looked like I was on track for another All-American selection. I went back to my snowy home in Washington State to the sudden devastating loss of my dad to cancer halfway through that Christmas break. My little green sunny world turned upside down.

You see, my dad (and mom) was my biggest supporter all through my formative years of learning this beautiful game. My dad was my rock of strength. If I needed new clubs, he found a way to finance it. If I needed to practice, he had one of my four brothers always driving me to the local golf courses. Even when we moved to Spokane, Washington when I was in my teens, he found a new home right next to a golf course. He made my dream of being a professional golfer someday a priority. He gave massive doses of positive encouraging words as I pursued my passion and focused on my golf motto: “To Be THE Best, You Have To Work Harder Than The Rest”.

I came back to the second half of my senior year in college to a dream turned into a nightmare golf ordeal.
It seemed I could handle my dad’s sudden passing everywhere BUT on the golf course. I went from shooting in the low 70’s to a crumbling mental golf nightmare case of shooting “snowmen”, shooting in the 80’s.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t blame my dad’s passing on a sudden crumbling of my golf game. No, it may have come one way or another.

I do blame not having a solid mental game plan to this dramatic turn the wrong way. I worked so hard all those years on my swing on the golf range, chipping and putting greens with not much thought to the mental side of golf.

I’ll pick up on that little story above through out the pages of this site here.

You see, I have a passion to help people. I decided one February 14th, that I would renew my love for this wonderful game by helping others with the mental side of the game of golf. I’ve learned so much in this pursuit.

I not only desire to help with the mental side but also in all aspects of being the best golfer (and person) you can be.

So, there will be chances to learn about equipment, fitness ideas, training techniques, putting tips and yes, plenty of mental secrets to help you improve your game and feel good about yourself in the process!

I can only hope to share in words, videos, thoughts, books, inspiration and ideas with you.

So whether your dream is to be a professional golfer, or to just to break 80, or to beat your regular foursome of guys (gals) on the weekends, your dream is my dream.

Let’s take the golf secret steps to see you accomplish your motto to being the best golfer you can be. Let’s pursue the secret keys to golf, from mental to physical, that a golfer needs to know.

Game on?

Golf Game on!!

If you Think you are beaten, you are,
If you Think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but Think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t!
If you Think you’re outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to Think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
If you Think You’ll lose, you’re lost
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s Will …
It’s all in the state of Mind.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who Thinks he can!
